About Us

After the success of sbparent.com (Santa Barbara), founder Rachael Ross Steidl began to expand by recruiting parents in other cities to start their own sites.  Kim Young, Tamara Dungan and Sherry Smith decided to bring VegasParent.com to families all over the Las Vegas Valley with a desire to give people a different perspecitve of our city.

Kim Young is a mother of three children (ages 9,7 and 3); Tamara Dungan is also a mother of three (ages 8, 5, and 3); and Sherry Smith is a mother of an active 8 year old boy.  The three moms met because their children attended the same school.  Sherry has lived in the valley for almost 20 years, while Tamara and Kim are newcomers of the past 8 years. Because of the tight network of parents at their children's school, these moms realized that their greatest resources were through other parents.  Their desire is that VegasParent.com will be a community of support that will empower your family by giving you information about our local resources, as well as helpful tips from other local parents.   

Prior to becoming a mom, Kim headed a non-profit organization, Child Assault Prevention Project, in Reno, NV.  She holds a degree in Social Work.

Teaching was a passion for Tamara prior to becoming a mother. She holds an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and continues to "teach" everyday.  She was an elementary teacher and reading specialist for ten years. 

Sherry has seen Las Vegas grow by leaps and bounds, almost as quickly as her son Brody.  She earned a degree in Dental Hygiene from CCSN right here in Las Vegas.
