The Wild West Music Fest is coming to the Henderson Pavilion on October 15-17 surrounded by a Nevada State Fair featuring carnival rides, games and over 230 vendors. Spend the day with the family playing in the haunted barn, painting your Halloween pumpkins or shopping for the perfect costume. Your kids will love riding the mechanical bull, spending time in the art farm or taking roping lessons. The parents will love learning how to make new dishes from top Las Vegas chefs at the cooking expo stage, relaxing in our beer garden, or taking dance lessons in our line dancing gazebo. Kids of all ages will enjoy the 25 carnival rides, midway games and food. At night relax around a campfire with our cowboy poets or come to our Headline country music concert featuring: Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell, Love & Theft, Lonestar, Lee Brice, Eli Young Band and Montgomery Gentry! All parents will agree, the best news yet is that 100% of the proceeds generated by this great event will be donated to the Lili Claire Foundation! Track Break Holiday CampCity of Las Vegas Dept. of Leisure Services Date: Every weekday (Dec 21-Jan 1)

The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services will open registration for winter break day camps for youth ages 4 to 15 on Monday, Nov. 23. Tot Kamp (ages 4 to 5), Kids Kamp (ages 6 to 11) and Teen Kamp (ages 12 to 15) will be offered at community centers, community schools and Municipal Pool beginning Dec. 21. There will be no camp on Friday holidays, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1. Youth will have fun and stay busy enjoying age-appropriate activities, including arts, crafts, holiday games and sports, under the supervision and guidance of professional staff. Youth will need to bring a sack lunch daily. The following locations will offer camp from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 21-31, priced at $65 per child per week and $60 for an additional child from the same household:

In addition, the Mirabelli Community Center, located at 6200 Hargrove Ave, will offer a week-long themed specialty camp concentrating on a particular activity from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., priced at $100 per week for the first child and $90 for an additional child from the same household. Also, the Aquatics staff will offer a Winter Splash Camp for children ages 6 to 11 at Municipal Pool Dec. 21-24, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, priced at $100 per week for the first child and $90 for an additional child from the same household. This fun-filled water camp will provide a safe atmosphere with close supervision where youth will experience snorkeling, water safety, games, crafts, water polo and much more. Children will need to bring a sack lunch, swimsuit, towel and a change of clothes daily. Registration is limited to 25 participants. Our libraries offer a variety of weekly storytimes to introduce children and their parents/caregivers to the exciting world of books. RecTrek is a year-round program for children ages 6 to 12 and keeps them busy Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during track and school breaks at Paradise Recreation Center, 4775 McLeod Drive, near Eastern and Tropicana avenues in southeast Las Vegas. Cost for the camp is $15 per day or $70 per week, per child. There is a 50 percent discount for the third child if enrolling three children from the same family for the entire week. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify through the Equal Opportunity Board (EOB).
Participants in RecTrek enjoy field day activities, guest speakers, themed days, playground free time, arts and crafts activities, cooperative sports, drama and movies.

Locals know winter is upon us when Montelago Village opens its annual, 40-foot-by-70-foot ice-skating rink that is created on a stage that floats atop Lake Las Vegas. Mystic Falls Park at Sam's Town has turned into a winter wonderland with 50 light-strewn trees and a 30-foot Christmas tree. The attraction now features three new polar bear scenes and a river scene with fishing polar bears. Lights and water shows accompany traditional holiday music and free 15-minute animated shows bring the park alive at 6, 8 and 10 pm daily. Admission is free.
