Each month we post a wish list for a different organization in town. It is our hope that people in the community who see this list might be able to help meet these needs in some way. If you have a wish list you would like posted, please send us an email with your attached wish list. If everyone gives just a little, we can help others.

-Walkers to participate in our annual Asthma Walk, which will be October 25 at UNLV.
-Asthmatic kids ages 7-12, to attend our 3 day/2 night overnight camp.

The American Lung Association (ALA) is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States, with a National Office and constituent and affiliate associations around the country. The American Lung Association of Nevada Las Vegas is the Southern Nevada Regional Office.
Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, ALA today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. ALA is funded by contributions from the public, along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies. ALA achieves its many successes through the work of thousands of committed volunteers and staff.
Our Programs at a Glance:
Better Breathers Clubs - Patient/family support groups for adults with COPD providing instruction to lung patients and their families through monthly meetings featuring lectures from health care professionals, and an opportunity for sharing information.
N-O-T Not on Tobacco - A state of the art program specifically designed for teenagers who want to stop smoking. N-O-T helps teens stop smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes they smoke.
T.A.T.U. Teens Against Tobacco Use - Students from area high schools use a peer-led model to teach elementary students to avoid tobacco. These informative and interactive presentations focus on the effects of tobacco, peer pressure and tobacco advertising, and the positive aspects of being tobacco free.
Asthma Residential Camp - Residential camp is offered for asthmatic children ages 7-12 in Southern Nevada. Our camp provide a mechanism for asthmatics to enjoy camp activities under medical supervision while learning to understand their disease and how to cope with it on a daily basis.
Freedom From Smoking - A service for adults to quit smoking with either a group support approach, an online program, or a self-help program which enables smokers to quit in the privacy of their own homes.
Professional Education - Annual conferences are held in Southern Nevada for health care providers to present continuing education updates in adult, neonatal and pediatric critical care medicine. Continuing Education for health care professionals is a crucial component in reducing death and disability among lung patients in Nevada.
Research - The American Lung Association Nationwide Research Program fosters both basic and clinical research designed to find cures and to prevent and relieve the suffering associated with lung disease. Our research program consists of direct grants for research and training of scientists, and a vigorous advocacy program designed to optimize federal support of lung research.
