Families Giving Back

View our NON PROFIT WISH LIST to see how you can help different organizations. It changes monthly.

You may not be able to help the whole world, but you can make a difference in your own community.   --Elizabeth P. Carter

See the list below of non-profits that could use more volunteers! We believe strongly in families giving back to their community by volunteering their time and making donations. Families can make a difference in their community without it necessarily being a big time commitment or expense.

We encourage parents to set an example for their children by demonstrating different ways to give, through donating toys and clothes or by helping serve meals during the holidays. You will be teaching your children empathy and compassion. Below are ways parents and kids can give back to our community.

UNLV Infant and Child Studies Lab

We are in need of volunteers to bring their babies (age 3 months to 14 months) down to our lab to participate in some of our research.

About Us:

We are a non-profit developmental research lab on the University of Nevada-Las Vegas campus. We hope to provide educators, therapists, and parents with information that helps them to effectively enrich children's education by outlining how and when infants begin to understand and appreciate various aspects of speech and music. We are looking for families who would be willing to bring their infants (3 months-14 months old) down to our lab to participate in a study. During a typical study, the caregiver would sit with the baby on his/her lap. We would then present different video and sound clips to the baby and observe how the baby reacts to any changes we make. After the study is complete, which takes between 5 and 10 minutes to conduct, we print out the results and go over them with the caregiver. This gives caregivers an opportunity to learn about their child and also about the field in general. We then give caregivers a small token of our appreciation (a baby t-shirt, onesie, or other small gift). Volunteers are a vital necessity to our research and any help would be greatly appreciated!
